TAPCO AK Stock adapter on Vltor or Magpul MOE/CTR?

I am researching the best stock options for an AK74 and am interested in going with either Vltor or Magpul. These require adapter tubes since they were originally made for AR platforms. Researching though I found that Vltor will want $80 for the adapter and then more for the stock. Magpul does not list an adapter in their store, but one is available as they have built AK projects before to advertise their products. Regardless, I see it being in the same price range. Question is, Can I buy a TAPCO stock for $42, discard the stock and install a Vltor or Magpul? Since both stocks are sold piecemeal Vltor does advertise that it will fit other manufacturers buffer tubes(nothing from Magpul but I'd wager its about the same).
