Hot glue+ Wires= WHAT?? HELP ME!!?

My ipod charger is like..broken kinda. The charging ends are like frayed i guess and you can see all the wires. i used electrical tape but its not workin to well. i was just wondering if hot glue would hurt the wires because i cant afford a new one if i screw it up
